Dating violence education schools

Programs that teach young people skills for dating can prevent violence.These programs can stop violence in dating relationships before it occurs.The Florida Department of Education partnered with FCADV to develop resource curricula, including supplementary materials and teacher training, addressing teen dating violence for grades 7 through 12 to satisfy the requirements of Florida Statutes 1006.1.42.The teen dating violence prevention curricula are designed for educators to use with seventh through twelfth grade students in a classroom setting.In our classroom and community presentations, we will work side by side with students (K-12) and professionals to respectfully and sensitively explore cultural and historical struggles that face our communities every day.This approach allows individuals to develop critical thinking skills in how they view relationships within societal norms and learn tools to create healthy relationships.Topics are related to building healthy relationships, bullying, gender roles and stereotypes, domestic and dating violence, friendships, peer pressure, expressing emotions appropriately, conflicts and disagreements, hands are not for hitting, respecting differences, and school safety.Presentations are tailored to the developmental level of students in each grade.

The mission of FCADV is to work towards ending violence through public awareness, policy development, and support for Florida’s domestic violence centers.From a prevention and education viewpoint, however, responding to the startling reality of dating violence can be overwhelming.That is why the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board (MDSVPTB) created the Dating Violence Youth Education Package (DVYEP) for educators and others working with youth as one option to address this very serious problem.We encourage educators to partner with their local domestic violence program, as they may have a Dating Violence Prevention Program and are fully trained to respond to students who disclose abuse.Working together, we can make a significant difference in the lives of Michigan's youth.Teen Dating Violence Policy, TX Education Code 37.0831 (formerly HB121) TX Education Code 37.0831 mandates that each school district in Texas adopt and implement a dating violence policy.
